Doctor Strange, Marvel Studios’ newest film, is about a skilled surgeon named Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) who loses the ability of his hands in a fatal car accident. When modern medicines fail to cure him, he searches for hope, stumbling upon a mystical enclave that teaches him how to be one of the most powerful sorcerers in the world.
Doctor Strange opened in theaters on Friday November 4, and has already earned itself 579.7 million USD in box office. Scott Derrickson (director) did an excellent job of mixing fantasy with superheroes, as well as weaving in humor. The storyline has a serious mood, yet the comic relief adds a pleasingly contemporary element. The special effects leave you mesmerized, the humor leaves you laughing out loud, and the actors play the characters so well, they have you believing the story is real. All the twists, turns and remarkable cliffhangers will make you gasp; you've never seen a movie like this one.
All in all, the setting, characters, humor, and performance put together create a spellbinding story that is highly recommended.
