On fun hot summer days the last thing you want to think about is the danger of the pool. However chlorine might have a real threat on your hair.

Imagine this, it’s the middle of July and your walking to the bathroom and you look in the mirror, and your hair is green. In this article I will inform you of the dangers of chlorine and why its affecting your hair.

What is the chlorine doing?

Anytime you enter a pool, spa, or water park it is most likely chlorinated. Whether you realize it or not chlorine is damaging your hair. When you are in the water the chlorine dries your hair and then causes the cuticles to crack. As the cuticles crack it causes split ends and frequent breaking of strands. Another impact chlorine can have on your hair is the change of color in blonde or light haired people. The chlorine causes bits and pieces of metal to break off and tint the hair.

But, there is a bright side, there is a way to prevent your light from turning into a sea monster. The least expensive way is to take a cold shower after each swim, this will wash out any unwanted chemicals. Even if you are dark haired this would still be a good idea because it can prevent your hair from becoming split ends and in some serious cases turning blonde. If your hair is brown or black and has been exposed to too much chlorine it will most likely turn blonde. The more expensive way but more effective is to buy a shampoo that will prevent damage. One of the most popular is ultra- swim chlorine removal.

In, conclusion chlorine is very damaging to your hair from changing the color to causing split ends. There is a way to prevent the damage from showering after a swim to using special shampoo.
