The hate mentality Donald Trump has already castes upon America.

As many of you know, Donald Trump is the president-elect, although Hillary Clinton won the popular vote. This means the majority of American citizens voted for Clinton, but the Electoral College voted for Donald Trump. However, his presidency is not official. There is still a chance Clinton can become president of the United States. On December 19th, the Electoral College will vote to see who is president of our country. Even though Donald Trump’s presidency isn't for sure, he is already having a huge impact on society.

Since November 8th, many people have spoken out about hateful act that have been directed towards them due to Trump and what he stands for. On November 10th an 18-year-old boy had rocks thrown at his face by other teenage boys. While they were throwing objects at this innocent boy, they were screaming hateful things about his sexuality. This poor boy was assaulted all because he loves a person who is of the same gender. They also taunted how he can't do anything about it because our (possible) future president, Donald Trump would support them. Our president has made people think it’s okay to assault people based off of things out of their control, that should not be our nation’s leader.

Many people of a Hispanic background have reported incidents of white males harassing them based off their skin tone. A common thing said to people of Hispanic background is “Come back where you came from.” Although many of these people are legal citizens, they are still told they do not belong in this country. One girl has spoken about a large group of white males telling her every single day at her high school that when Trump is president she’ll have to go home. She has said that faculty is aware of this problem, yet is not willing to do anything about the ongoing issue. Our future president has promoted this behavior.

Donald Trump has made his opinion on women very clear, he simply doesn't respect women. He also has bragged about sexually assaulting women during his presidential campaign. The way he speaks about women has impacted the view many young boys have on women. There has been a significant increase in reported sexual assault cases in this short time period in which Donald Trump has become the President-elect. A teenager in Wisconsin recently received a threat from one of her male classmates saying when Trump becomes president, he can finally do what he wants to her. Many other women and girls across the nation have reported incidents much like this. This is who America elected as our future president, a man who has encouraged men to treat females in such a terrible manner.

Although many people will claim that Donald Trump is changing his behavior as he is now the President-elect, that really makes no difference as the damage is already done. Trump has already made his opinion of certain groups of people, and there’s no going back. Due to his influence, people already think it’s okay to treat others unlike them poorly. Also, just because he has been changing, doesn't mean he’s not making these changes in the government. Trump released a list of eleven Supreme Court nominees. All of the nominees are white, 8 are male, and most are conservative and are known for favoring people who are white. Trump’s Vice President, Mike Pence, hasn’t calmed his views down. Pence has stated that Donald Trump will be an anti-LGBTQ+ President. Mike Pence is also openly against people who are a part of the LGBTQ+ community. Mike Pence is a big supporter of conversion therapy, and hasn’t changed his views on that since Donald Trump became the President-elect. Just because Trump himself isn’t as vocal about his views that disrespect others, doesn't mean no damage is done and these opinions won’t be a part of the government. By electing Donald Trump, we have started a hateful government that has no respect for people unlike them, it’s the start of an American nightmare.
