Common questions about middle school and their answers.
Sometimes middle school can be intimidating for incoming sixth graders. To help, these are some questions commonly asked by fifth graders stressing about middle school and the answers to them.
Q: Should we expect the work to be hard?
Yes, the work is defiantly challenging. But not to a certain extent. If you work you hardest and put all of your effort into your work you will be fine.
Q: How much homework is there on a daily basis?
There is usually 30 minutes to an hour of homework each night. The typical subjects you will get homework in each day is Math and Language Arts. For science and Social Studies, you usually have something due at the end of the week.
Q: What is the discipline like at Noe?
The discipline is reasonable here. Some things I disagree with but that’s just because I’m a student here and I wish some rules would be different. Such as you can’t chew gum. There is also free dress but don’t let that trick you. There still is a dress code. For example, you cannot show your shoulders so all shirts have to have sleeves, leggings can only be worn with a shirt long enough to cover 6 inches above the knee. The staff inforce this the most. As of discipline for behavior, there is no fighting or negative physical contact allowed. If such actions happen they will be disciplined by a referral or ISAP. ISAP is an in school suspension.
Q: Will I fit in socially?
Yes, you will most defiantly fit in. There are many different types of friend groups here. For me, I found my friends almost instantly. The best advice I can give is to start a sports team or academic club early in the year so you find people with the same interests as you.
